Sam Braham

May20

One day at school a Para Olympian came to talk to us about his success at the Para Olympics in swimming and about his face leg. His leg was black and was held on with a suction cap. He came to talk to us about his life as an Para Olympian. He talked to us about when he was younger and played tricks with his face leg and for a few of them he got in trouble with the police!
Sam also talked about how he broke the world record in 50m Butterfly and almost came 1st in the 50 meter Butterfly at the Para Olympics. Sam talked to us about when he attended the Para Olympics he went to a room where you could pick out anything you wanted and you didn’t have to pay at all. Sam talked to us about a feeling he got in his bones as he did his Butterfly and how happy he felt when he broke the world record in 50m Butterfly. He also gave a few quotes and one that I really benefit from was something like souk up the Audience and try your best. I was really interested in Sam Braham and one day I hope to be just like him!

World Maths Day

March19

Scientists surrounded the classroom on the 14th of March when it was World Maths Day. World Maths Day was on a Friday and we had to dress up. I dressed up as a scientist. I wore amy Dad’s large white top with my sport shorts. My friends had all dressed up as scientists but they all wore nerd glasses! My other friends Emma she didn’t wear a scientist outfit she wore a nerd outfit and she was very good at acting it too!

On world maths day we did a activity with our prep buddy’s and the activity was to make a shape monster. My buddy Paige made a very beautiful monster which looked like a caterpillar! We also did an activity where we had to name all the teachers from smallest to tallest and how tall you think they would be! It was really hard, but we still don’t know our results, the only result I know is that I didn’t win!                                                                                                                                                         We all had lots of fun anyway!

Year 6 leadership day 2014!

February19

Not to long ago all the year 6’s got on a bus and went to the rice centre that’s in the bush. There, we got into a leadership groups and brainstormed all the things we could do to improve the school but it had to be in a way that represents your team, we are the Arts Team. We made up lots of new things to improve the school. When we had finished that we had morning tea and at morning tea break I played table tennis with my friends Gee and Michy. After we got into our groups and we had to construct a house that all our team could fit in and it had to have; A roof, walls and we were not aloud to hold it to make it stay up! It was hard but we did it in the end but as soon as we finished our photo it all fell down and went into the bin.

Later that day we had lunch, and for lunch was Pizza and soft drink. After Lunch we were told to cut out all the faces in our team (for ex Arts Team) and beside our face we had to write three positive things about our selves that are true. Later that day we had to pack up and leave the rice centre but on the way home on the bus we got to receive our year 6 jumpers with all our names on them and they are great and we love them!

Meeting Scott Kneller!

February12

A few days ago we saw Scott Kneller on Skype, he was in Sochi. Scott Kneller is competing in the Winter Olympics in Sochi doing ski cross. A few weeks before the Olympics he broke the vertebrae in his back so he was very nervous about going to the Olympics. He found out one month before the Olympics that he can go, so Scott is very excited but not planning to win his race just to do well and be happy to be there. That doesn’t mean he’s not training, Scott is waking up at 6 am and does his rehab for his back just before he goes and practices his ski cross and finishes at 6 pm. That’s a long day!

When we were Skyping Scott Kneller he told us about all he was nervous about, what he was excited about, and how it is in Sochi which is in Russia. Scott is very nervous about all the things going on in Sochi because it is just next to a country that’s called Chechnya that has it’s own beliefs, religion and even it’s own language. Bad things have happened in Chechnya, there has been a war over independence and the violence never really stopped. It’s just gotten better than it used to be, and now Chechnya is thinking of bombing the Winter Olympics to get the Russians back for what they did hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

When we skyped Scott Kneller we were all wearing green and yellow to show that we support him at the Winter Games but the other schools that were skyping him to didn’t do that. They took to long to get it all working so we quit early because we had all asked the questions that we wanted to know and now we know a lot more about Scott Kneller! Scott also did mention that his sport, ski cross is on the 20/2/14 so get out there and support Scott in Sochi!
